Wednesday, October 29, 2003AFSCME 3800, which represents 1,800 clerical workers at the University of Minnesota, is on strike, that University's first in over 40 years. Both sides seem preparing for a long battle: the Union is soliciting strike funds via Paypal on the web, and is making arrangements to help their members stay clothed, fed, and housed without paychecks. Also, former Daily editor Nick Woomer is sitting in a University building in solidarity with the workers.
