The combination of a large volume of rainfall, times the huge drainage area makes this flash flood. Water exiting from this small dam and the volume of water stored behind the dam would have relatively small consequences downstream. Probably not wise to blame flooding on the dam. If the dam were not there, flooding would still be there. Look for better and more permanent solutions to the future flood potential.

Redlands Dam and the flooding occurred on Havasu Creek, a tributary to the Colorado. The Colorado itself is regulated by larger dams. I would contact the rafting company before you went for an update on conditions.

Where are those four dams situated? Colorado River or elsewhere? I am going rafting on the Colorado River next year and thus want this information.
