On a recent trip to New York City I visited the Ellis Island National Monument, which contains an excellent museum on immigration. Upon entering the room which functioned as a recieving area for immigrants from 1892 until 1954, there are three large photos taken on Ellis Island during its early history hanging above a collection of luggage. The caption revealed the photos were taken from none other than the Michigan Historical Collections, a research archive housed on North Campus as part of the University's Bentley Historical Library.Posted by Rob at 5:24 PM 0 Comments
