I've just learned a friend of mine plans on running for Ann Arbor City Council in Ward 4 with the Green Party. I'll withhold their identity until the paperwork is properly filed tomorrow. The ward is currently represented by a Democrat, Margie Teall, and a Republican who will be seeking re-election in November, Marcia Higgins. The Democrats are not challenging Marcia Higgins, so I think the Green Party stands a real chance, especially if the students in the ward register and turn out and to vote.> To see how the student population is possibly illegally gerrymandered in City Council races, see this page
