After pressure from SOLE, the University has established a committee to create guidelines for a new purchasing policy. I think from the administration's perspective, committees are a good way to defuse activists' vim and quietly find compromises. SOLE considers it a partial victory, something Julie Peterson seems almost too eager to concede. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the University will be cutting the contract, just waiting until it expires - November 2004 - before finding a more ethical cleaner.Posted by Rob at 2:14 AM
